Interference can happen when wireless devices compete for the same Wi-Fi area. This can slow down Wi-Fi networks, reduce their range, or stop them from working altogether. It's often easy to deal with interference if you can find the cause of the problem.
 

Devices that may cause interference

If you are using one of the following devices, problems may arise when using the Toniebox 1 or other Wi-Fi-ready devices.

• Baby monitor on a 2.4 GHz connection
• Cordless 2.4 GHz or DECT telephones
• Wireless video transmitters using a 2.4 GHz connection (e.g. ‘wireless HDMI transmission’)
• Radio surveillance cameras
• Wi-Fi boosters (extenders)
• Another Toniebox 1 currently in use

To find the cause of the interference, it may help to set up the Toniebox 1 in a different place, temporarily turn off the device involved or - if possible - use a different channel.

Choosing the Wi-Fi channel

In the 2.4 GHz range, there are three channels which don’t overlap with others and have worked best based on our experience: channels 1, 6 and 11.

Please ensure that your Wi-Fi router (and your Wi-Fi extender, if you have one) is using one of these channels.

Interference from materials

Certain materials and surfaces nearby may affect Wi-Fi performance by absorbing the signal.
