If you're having any issues with your Toniebox 2 Setup, we always recommend the following steps before you reach out to us:
- Step 1 - Give it a minute: We always recommend waiting a few extra minutes to allow the Toniebox 2 to figure things out.
- Step 2 - Restart: If waiting hasn't worked, then a restart is your next step. You can think of this as turning the Toniebox 2 off, and back on again. Then try the setup process again.
- Step 3 - Factory Reset: If you are still unable to connect, we recommend a factory reset via the app.
For in app guidance to factory reset (make sure the tonies® app is updated to the latest version) :
1. Open the tonies® app and log in to your account.
2. Go to “Mine” and select your Toniebox 2.
3. Tap “Settings” (top right corner).
4. Scroll to the bottom and select “Factory reset instructions.”
Once completed please then head to your device's Bluetooth settings and ensure the Toniebox 2 is removed before you attempt setup again.

If you see a "Wrong Password" message while setting up your device, don’t worry—here’s how to get back on track:
- Double-check your password: Make sure you’re typing your Wi-Fi password exactly as it’s set—passwords are case-sensitive, so capital letters do matter!
- Still seeing the message? Try setup via mobile hotspot: If the password is correct but the error won’t budge, try setting up your Toniebox 2 using a mobile hotspot instead.
- Still stuck? If hotspot setup doesn’t do the trick, our Customer Happiness team is ready to help. Reach out and we’ll get your Toniebox 2 back in action!
If your Wi-Fi network isn’t showing up during setup, try the following steps:
- Refresh and move closer to your router: Tap Refresh, move your Toniebox 2 closer to your router, and restart setup.
- Still not appearing? Try a mobile hotspot: If your network still doesn’t show, set up your Toniebox 2 using a mobile hotspot instead.
- Setup still not possible? If you’re unable to complete setup using a hotspot, please contact our Customer Happiness team for help.
If your Toniebox 2 is taking longer than expected to connect during setup, here’s what to do:
- Be patient — this can be normal: A standard setup can take up to 7 minutes to complete. Please wait and allow the Toniebox 2 to finish connecting.
- If setup times out or fails: Restart the setup process. Don’t forget to restart your Toniebox 2 first (Unplug the charging cable, then squeeze both ears for 40 seconds).
- Still not connecting? Try a mobile hotspot: This can bypass any local network issues.
- Issue is not resolved?: In cases where the previous steps have not been successful we recommend you perform a Factory Reset.
- Need more help? If hotspot setup also fails, contact our Customer Happiness team for support.
Open networks (those without a password) are often found in:
- Cafes, airports, libraries, or hotels
- Guest Wi-Fi networks in offices or shared buildings
- Some home networks with no security settings
Your Toniebox 2 may have issues connecting to these open networks. Here’s what to do:
- Try setup via mobile hotspot: Connect to a hotspot first to complete setup and download the latest firmware then try the open network again. To do this, tap on "Connect Toniebox", or go to "Settings" (top right corner), scroll down to "Connect to another Wi-Fi", tap on it and follow the steps.
- Still not working? Contact our Customer Happiness team for further support.
If your Toniebox 2’s light ring flashes red during setup, it usually means the download was interrupted. Here’s what to do:
- Restart your Toniebox 2: This often clears up the issue: How do I restart the Toniebox 2?
- Still seeing red lights? If the problem persists even after restarting, contact our Customer Happiness team for next steps.
In rare cases, a nearby Wi-Fi network with unusual characters (line breaks, spaces, symbols) in its name can block Toniebox 2 setup.
Important: Setup will not be possible while this interference is present, even if you try a hotspot.
- If it’s your network, rename it to something simple.
- If you’re elsewhere, try setup in a location without the interfering network. To do this, tap on "Connect Toniebox", or go to "Settings" (top right corner), scroll down to "Connect to another Wi-Fi", tap on it and follow the steps.
- Before retrying setup, perform a factory reset on your Toniebox 2.
If your Wi-Fi network’s name (SSID) is longer than 32 characters, your Toniebox 2 may not connect successfully. Here’s what to do:
- Setup via mobile hotspot: Connect first to complete initial setup and download firmware.
- Rename your Wi-Fi network: Shorten it to 32 characters or fewer, then retry setup. To do this, tap on "Connect Toniebox", or go to "Settings" (top right corner), scroll down to "Connect to another Wi-Fi", tap on it and follow the steps.
