Otherwise, here are our recommendations when gifting and receiving the Toniebox to ensure a smooth experience for all:
How to setup the Toniebox without a Household:
It is important to follow the setup instructions below to ensure that the Toniebox can be successfully transferred to the recipient and will not be tied to any existing tonies® accounts. It is also important to note that we will not be using the mytonies app or my.tonies.com/setup for this process.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Ensure the Toniebox is in factory settings by placing the Toniebox on the charging station while connected to the power supply and turn them both upside down together so the ears are pointing downwards.
- While the ears are facing the floor and the charger is connected, pinch both ears simultaneously for about 10 seconds until you hear an audio signal and the Toniebox shuts down.
- After the Toniebox has fully shut down, flip the Toniebox upright, remove the Toniebox from the charging station for a moment, and place it back on. The Toniebox is now in factory default condition. It will greet you with "Hello there, don’t be scared..." message coming from the speaker accompanied by a flashing green light.
- Next, pinch both ears for about 5 seconds until the LED turns blue and you hear an audio tone.
- Wait about 20 seconds until the second audio tone.
- Go into the WiFi settings on your phone or computer and connect to the Toniebox WiFi named 'Toniebox-####'.
- Wait a few seconds until the connection is fully established. You might receive a message saying 'This connection does not have access to the internet', choose to 'ignore' or 'continue anyway', as we will not need internet access for this step.
- Open a web browser on your device and type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and then hit enter or choose to go.
- This will take you to a Toniebox setup page asking to select the language of the Toniebox. Choose your desired language, and then click the 'OK' button.
-
Now, you will need to connect the Toniebox to your WiFi (or mobile hotspot). Once you have selected the WiFi network from the drop-down list and entered the WiFi password, click the 'CONNECT TONIEBOX' button at the bottom of the page.
- If setup is successful, the LED on the Toniebox will turn solid green and a greeting message will play. You can then place a Tonie on the Toniebox to make sure everything is working normally.
- Now your Toniebox is all setup and ready for Tonies! Place a Tonie on the Toniebox and it will begin downloading its content and the LED will begin blinking blue. Once your Tonie is finished downloading all of its content, the LED on the Toniebox will change to solid green and an audio chime will play. Now that Tonie can play even without a WiFi connection. For more information on downloading Tonies, check out our support article here: How do I download Tonies on my Toniebox?
Note: Uh oh! Is the Toniebox giving you any trouble when connecting your home WiFi network? Not to worry, if we are unable to get connected to the home WiFi, we can get set up with a mobile hotspot instead! To see our step-by-step guide on setting up a mobile hotspot, please see our article here: How do I activate a mobile hotspot? then try these steps again!
If the Toniebox is already setup in your Household:
Have you already set up the Toniebox in your own Household? Not to worry, we will simply need to remove the Toniebox from your Household before gifting it to the recipient.
