Ready to take your Toniebox on an adventure or have you recently received a new Tonie and want to make sure it can play even without a Wi-Fi connection? Not to worry, Tonies are able to play their content on the Toniebox without a Wi-Fi connection, as long as they are fully downloaded onto the Toniebox. Here's how:
While the Toniebox is connected to a Wi-Fi network, you can place a Tonie on top of the Toniebox to begin the download process:
- When a Tonie that has not been downloaded before is placed on top of the Toniebox, it will begin downloading its content, indicated by the blinking blue LED on the top of the Toniebox. While the Toniebox LED is blinking blue, the Tonie will also begin to play its content from the speaker of the Toniebox. This download process may take a few minutes, depending on which Tonie it is and the speed of the Wi-Fi connection. It is important to keep the Tonie on top of the Toniebox while the LED is blinking blue in order to ensure a full download of the Tonie.
- Once the content has finished downloading, the Toniebox LED will turn solid green and an audio chime will play. This means that the Tonie has been fully downloaded onto the Toniebox. Once a Tonie is fully downloaded, it will no longer need Wi-Fi to play! You can then repeat this process for each Tonie you may have.
Important: If you have multiple Tonieboxes, each individual Tonie will need to be downloaded separately onto each individual Toniebox to be able to play on each Toniebox without a Wi-Fi connection.
Notes:
- If you hear any error messages coming from the Toniebox speaker when placing a Tonie on top of the Toniebox, like the code word: Turtle, this means that the Toniebox is not currently connected to a Wi-Fi network. To re-connect your Toniebox to Wi-Fi in order to download Tonies, please see our article here: How do I connect my Toniebox to a different Wi-Fi network?
- If the Toniebox LED is pulsing blue when a Tonie is placed on top and the Tonie is not playing its content, that means the Toniebox may currently be in connection mode. To get the Toniebox out of connection mode in order to download and play Tonies, please see our article here: The Toniebox LED keeps blinking blue and will not play any Tonies
- It is also important to note that while the Tonie(s) may appear within the mytonies app (in the 'Collection' section), this is not confirmation that the Tonie(s) have been fully downloaded onto the Toniebox, only that the Toniebox has detected that the Tonie has been placed on top of the Toniebox.
If you run into any issues, send us a message including your Toniebox ID and we will get to the bottom of it!
