tonies® Blocks Product Recall Frequently Asked Questions

Why is tonies® conducting this recall?

tonies^® has received one report in the US of the magnet detaching from a tonies^® Block. No injuries have been reported. However, to allow a thorough investigation, and  in partnership with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, we are conducting an immediate and worldwide recall of the tonies® Blocks.

The recall is being initiated due to risk of magnet ingestion. When two or more high-powered magnets are swallowed, either intentionally by younger children or accidentally by older children, the ingested magnets can attract to each other, or to another metal object, and become lodged in the digestive system. In the most serious cases, this can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning and death.

tonies® Blocks are only approved for sale  in the US. tonies® Blocks are not authorised  for sale in the UK market and have not been  made available for sale by tonies® in the UK. tonies® has recently become aware, however, that the Blocks are being unlawfully distributed by unauthorised sellers via Amazon Marketplace.

How is tonies® conducting this recall?

We have stopped sale of the affected products in the US.  

We request all tonies^® Blocks owners get in touch with us via our help centre or via email at getintouch@tonies.com and tonies^® will provide you with a free return label and send their Blocks back to tonies^® immediately. After receiving your Blocks, we will issue a refund or credit note for the same value.

How do I participate in the recall?

I received this product as a gift. Can I still return it?

Yes, please return your Blocks even if you did not purchase them. Please email getintouch@tonies.com  and we will generate a return label for you.

My product appears to be okay. Can I continue to use it?

No. Customers  must stop using the product immediately and move it out of reach of children and pets.  The Blocks must  be returned  to us as soon as possible.  

Please note that the affected Blocks have been deactivated and will not  work when placed on the Toniebox.

Are any other Tonies or Tonieboxes impacted?

No, this recall only impacts tonies^® Blocks. No Tonie figurines or Tonieboxes are impacted.
