You want to set up your Toniebox, but get a message saying your Toniebox is already in another Household? First, double-check if this Toniebox was a gift. The gifter may have already set up the Toniebox and will just need to transfer ownership to you. Follow our article on transferring ownership of a Household here: How do I transfer ownership of my Household?
If the Toniebox was not a gift, follow the steps below to get up and running! Please note that you can use either my.tonies.com or the mytonies app to complete this process.
Using my.tonies.com
- Reset the Toniebox to factory settings by following these steps:

Place the Toniebox on top of the charging station and ensure the power is turned on.

Turn the Toniebox and charger upside-down so the ears are facing the floor.

While upside down, pinch and hold both Toniebox ears for about 10 seconds until you hear an audio tone and the Toniebox turns off.

- Establish a new Wi-Fi connection using my.tonies.com/wifi. For detailed instructions walking through this connection process, take a look at our support article here: How do I connect my Toniebox to a different Wi-Fi network?
- Once you have successfully established the Wi-Fi connection, you can then add the Toniebox into your Household. To do this, follow these steps:
- Login to your account at my.tonies.com and click to open the 'Tonieboxes' header.
- Click 'Add Toniebox'.
- Here, a screen will appear asking to either start a new setup process or add an already connected Toniebox to your Household. You will want to make sure to choose the bottom option to just add the already connected Toniebox into your Household.
- Type in the Toniebox ID and click 'Add Now'
- Once you have added the Toniebox into your Household, you are all set! You can then use the mytonies app or my.tonies.com to manage your Tonies and Toniebox normally.

- Login to your account at my.tonies.com and click to open the 'Tonieboxes' header.
Using the mytonies app on an iPhone with iOS
- Open the mytonies app and tap the icon in the bottom right hand corner titled 'Collection'.
- Scroll down and tap the red plus (+) sign next to 'Toniebox'
- Tap 'Start Setup Process' at the bottom of the screen to start the setup process.
- Before proceeding, ensure your Toniebox is turned on by placing it on top of the charging station that is plugged into a power source. Once done, tap 'Continue'.
- Now, while the Toniebox is on and plugged in, pinch and hold both ears for about 5 seconds until the LED flashes blue and you hear an audio tone. Once you hear the audio tone, tap 'Continue'.
- The setup wizard will now start the setup process, and after a few seconds, you will see a 'Discovering' window at the bottom of the screen. Please wait for the setup wizard to load and locate your Toniebox.
- Once your Toniebox has been located, you will see a 'Set Up Accessory' window at the bottom of the screen, and it will ask you to pair your Toniebox with the mytonies app and your smartphone. Once prompted, simply tap 'Set Up' at the bottom.
- After the Toniebox has completed pairing, you will see a 'Finish Setup in App' screen at the bottom. To finalize the setup process, tap on the 'Continue in App' button.
- Wait until the 'Loading Toniebox information' step is completed and has a green checkmark next to it, then tap on 'Continue'.
- If the Toniebox is already setup in a different Household, you will be prompted to either move the Toniebox to your new Household or just connect to a new WiFi network and keep the Toniebox in it's original Household. If you would like to move the Toniebox to your new Household, tap on 'Setup and move to my household' and continue to the next step.

- Once unplugged, simply place the Toniebox back on the charging station or plug the charging station back in to turn the Toniebox back on. Then tap 'Continue'.
- Now, while the Toniebox is on and plugged in, pinch and hold both ears for about 5 seconds until the LED flashes blue and you hear an audio tone. Once you hear the audio tone, tap 'Continue'.
- The setup wizard will now start the setup process, and after a few seconds, you will see a 'Discovering' window at the bottom of the screen. Please wait for the setup wizard to load and locate your Toniebox.
- Once your Toniebox has been located, you will see a 'Set Up Accessory' window at the bottom of the screen, and it will ask you to pair your Toniebox with the mytonies app and your smartphone. Once prompted, simply tap 'Set Up' at the bottom.
- After the Toniebox has completed pairing, you will see a 'Finish Setup in App' screen at the bottom. To finalize the setup process, tap on the 'Continue in App' button.
- Wait until the 'Loading Toniebox information' step is completed and has a green checkmark next to it, then tap on 'Continue'.
- Now you will see a list of available WiFi networks. Tap the name of your WiFi network to continue.

Enter your WiFi password. Tip: Tap the 'eye' icon on the right-hand side to see your password and ensure that all capitalization and spelling are correct. Once you have entered the correct password, tap 'Continue'.
- Wait while the Toniebox establishes a connection with your WiFi and downloads any available updates. This process may take a minute or two and you may hear multiple sounds or beeps while the Toniebox connects. *If you run into an error message, take a look at our support article here: The Toniebox flashes red and reports an error
- Once your Toniebox is finished connecting to your WiFi and downloading any necessary updates, you will hear a welcome message from the Toniebox speaker and see a screen that says 'Congratulations! Your Toniebox is ready to play!'. The Toniebox LED should also now be solid green.
Note: You can tap the 'Personalize now (recommended)' button to adjust specific settings such as volume and the Toniebox name, however, these settings can be adjusted at any point in time.
- Now, your Toniebox is all setup in your new Household and ready for Tonies! Place a Tonie on the Toniebox and it will begin downloading its content and the LED will begin blinking blue. Once your Tonie is finished downloading all of its content, the LED on the Toniebox will change to solid green and an audio chime will play. Now that Tonie can play even without a WiFi connection. Using the mytonies app on an Android smartphone
- Open the mytonies app and tap the icon in the bottom right hand corner titled 'Collection'.
- Scroll down and tap the red plus (+) sign next to 'Toniebox'
- Tap 'Start Setup Process' at the bottom of the screen to start the setup process.
- Enter your Toniebox ID. This is the 8 digit ID that can be found on the bottom of your Toniebox. Make sure the Toniebox is not on the charger or you will not be able to see the Toniebox ID. Once you have entered your Toniebox ID, tap 'Continue'.
- If the Toniebox is already setup in a different Household, you will be prompted to either move the Toniebox to your new Household or just connect to a new WiFi network and keep the Toniebox in it's original Household. If you would like to move the Toniebox to your new Household, tap on 'Setup and move to my household' and continue to the next step.

- Place the Toniebox on the charger to turn it on if you have not already done so. Then pinch both ears for about 5 seconds until you hear an audio chime and the LED begins to flash blue. Wait for about 20 seconds until you hear a second audio chime. Once you hear the second audio chime and the LED is slowly pulsing blue, tap 'Continue'.

- You will then be asked to select what LED is currently shown on top of the Toniebox. The LED should be slowly pulsing blue (in and out) at this stage. Simply tap the 'Blue Pulsing LED' button when prompted.
- Now the Toniebox will attempt to connect to your smartphone. When you see the box that says 'Connect to device?', tap the 'Connect' or 'Allow' button. This is an important step to complete the WiFi connection process.
Note: You may see a slightly different message depending on the version of Android you are using.
- Please wait for the Toniebox to fully connect to your smartphone. This may take a few seconds.

Once the Toniebox connects to your smartphone, you will see a list of available WiFi networks. Tap the name of your WiFi network to continue.
- Enter your WiFi password. Tip: Tap the 'eye' icon on the right-hand side to see your password and ensure that all capitalization and spelling are correct. Once you have entered the correct password, tap 'Continue'.
- Wait while the Toniebox establishes a connection with your WiFi and downloads any available updates.
