To download new Tonies or new content for a Creative-Tonie when on the move, you can simply connect the Toniebox to a mobile hotspot. You can provide this via your smartphone or similar device, and only turn it on when required.
Caution: In order to set up a Wi-Fi connection via a mobile hotspot, you need two devices: one to provide the hotspot and another to access the installation assistant on my.tonies.com/wifi. You cannot provide the hotspot and access the Toniebox Wi-Fi on the same device at the same time.
Please note that mobile data is used when downloading data from the Toniecloud. This may lead to additional charges depending on your mobile phone contract. Not to worry: Only manageable amounts of data are required to download new software or new stories. Our user software is just a few kilobytes. The amount of data required for audio content varies from 15 MB for around 20 minutes to about 80 MB for around 120 minutes.
Find out how to set up and activate a mobile hotspot on your smartphone or tablet below. Please select your operating system:
iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + cellular) with iOS

Tap ‘Settings’ on the home screen and then ‘Mobile network’ (iPhone) and/or ‘Mobile Data’ (iPad).

Tap ‘Personal Hotspot’.

Activate the slider to turn on the personal hotspot. The hotspot is now active.

Below the activated slider, you can see the name under which you can control your iPad/iPhone hotspot. The password for using the hotspot is also displayed here. If you would like to change it, simply type in your new password option.

When you have successfully activated the hotspot, you can access our assistant on your second device at my.tonies.com/wifi and set up the Wi-Fi connection. Make sure that you select the mobile hotspot you have just activated at step 7 of the installation process and enter the associated password. Once the connection is made, it will be displayed on the device providing the hotspot at the top of the screen.

Android smartphone or tablet

On your smartphone/tablet, tap ‘Settings’ on your start screen and then ‘More’ in the ‘Wireless & Networks’ section.

Then tap ‘Tethering & mobile hotspot’.

Tap ‘Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot’ and activate the slider. The hotspot is now activated. This is indicated by the relevant icon appearing at the top of the screen.

Beneath the heading ‘Set up Wi-Fi hotspot’, you can see the name you can use to access your smartphone’s hotspot. You can also display or change the password for using the hotspot.
