Welcome to the tonies® family! 🎉 We’re thrilled to have you join us and start building your collection.
Here’s a quick guide to answer some of the most commonly asked questions by other Tonie-lovers:
Toniebox vs. Tonies vs. Creative-Tonies vs. Clever Tonies—What’s the difference?
-
Toniebox: The main event! Toniebox refers to the little square box where all the fun happens. A Toniebox Starter Set includes the Toniebox, Charger, and a Starter Set Tonie.
-
Tonies: Our content Tonies are the standard toys that can be placed on the Toniebox to play content that is preloaded on the Tonie (this content can not be changed.)
-
Creative-Tonies: This is where the creativity kicks in! Creative-Tonies are custom Tonies that allow you to add free content from our audio library and record or upload your own personal content onto them, each one has 90 minutes of space for you to upload.
-
Clever Tonies: The newest editions to the tonies® family! Clever Tonies are designed for our older listeners and include, books, educational material, and content for listeners who aren't as little anymore.
How can I ensure my USB cable charges the Toniebox?
-
Please ensure that the white circular piece protecting the USB charging cable during transport is removed so the Toniebox can sit flat on the Charging Station.
- Please also ensure the USB Power Adaptor or Brick that connects to the wall, meets our technical specifications: minimum input of 5V 1.5A or a maximum input of 5V 2.3A.
-
Does the Toniebox need to be connected to Wi-Fi all the time? Can I play a Tonie without Wi-Fi?
-
The Toniebox only needs an active Wi-Fi connection during its initial setup process and when downloading Tonies for the first time. Once your Toniebox has synced with your Wi-Fi and fully downloaded your Tonies, you can take it offline to play content.
-
To ensure that a Tonie is fully downloaded, place a Tonie on the Toniebox, and if you see a blinking blue LED light while the Tonie is playing from the speaker, this means the Tonie is downloading its content onto the Toniebox. Once your Tonie is finished downloading all of its content, the LED on the Toniebox will change to solid green and an audio chime will play. Now, if you see a solid green LED on top of the Toniebox, that means that Tonie can play even without a WiFi connection. For more details on downloading Tonies, please see our support article here: How do I download Tonies on my Toniebox?
Do I need to place Tonies on top to play?
Yes! The magic happens when you place a Tonie on top of the Toniebox. Once the Tonie is downloaded you will still need the physical figure to play the content.
Is the Toniebox portable?
Absolutely! With its built-in battery, the Toniebox is perfect for on-the-go fun. It's important to note that a 3-4 hour charge is enough for a full battery that can last up to 7 hours of playtime.
What age is tonies® best suited for?
The Toniebox is designed for kids ages 3 and up, but it’s a hit with Tonie fans of all ages!
I've made some Toniebox settings adjustments or Creative-Tonie updates, how do I sync them to make sure they apply?
Any time you make a change to your Toniebox settings or update your Creative-Tonie, you will just need to sync the Toniebox in order to make sure that the Toniebox receives the news that changes have been made. To do this, simply turn on the Toniebox and pinch one of the Tonieboxes ears for about three seconds until you hear a sound. The LED will begin flashing blue while your Toniebox updates with the changes. You can then place the Tonie or Creative-Tonie onto the Toniebox when the light turns solid green. The new changes should then be reflected properly.
How does the Toniebox turn off?
It's important to know that there is no way to manually turn the Toniebox off. Once a story has finished or there are no Tonies on the Toniebox and there is no other activity, the Toniebox turns off automatically after 10 minutes. To turn the Toniebox back on, simply pinch either Toniebox ear or place it on the charger.
I've seen different content and Tonies in other countries – what's the deal?
Something isn't working right on my Toniebox. What are the restart/reset options?
We have options for both a soft restart and a factory reset. Check out our support pages for step-by-step guides below:
-
Soft Restart: When you're a little stuck or things seem a little off, we always recommend restarting the device first. A soft restart will typically get things back on track and does not wipe/erase any content on the Toniebox. To perform a soft restart, please see our support article here: How do I restart the Toniebox?
-
Factory Reset: Things are not right! We typically only recommend proceeding with a factory reset as a last resort. Please note that performing a factory reset will erase all content stored on the Toniebox, returning it to its original factory state. As a result, the Toniebox will need to be set up again, and Tonies will need to be re-downloaded.
To perform a factory reset, if needed, please see our support article here: How do I reset the Toniebox to factory settings?
