Whoa, a turtle! You might think the Toniebox has hidden in a little shell and doesn’t want to come out, but the code word ‘Turtle’ actually indicates that the Toniebox cannot find your known Wi-Fi network.
Not to worry, we simply need to connect to an available Wi-Fi network:
- Since the Toniebox can remember up to 6 different networks, you can simply connect it to a new Wi-Fi network using the steps listed here: How do I connect my Toniebox to a different Wi-Fi network? Please note that the Toniebox cannot connect to networks with an upstream login page, i.e. what is known as a ‘captive portal.’ Locations like coffee shops, schools and public centers typically use this type of connection.
- The Toniebox can also connect to a mobile hotspot provided by a smartphone. You can find out exactly how this works here in our help center article: How do I activate a mobile hotspot?
To prevent our Turtle friend from reappearing, ensure that each of your Tonies has been fully downloaded:
- Once you have successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network, place the Tonie on the Toniebox to begin the download. This will be indicated by a blinking blue LED on the top of the Toniebox. This may take a few minutes, depending on which Tonie it is. Once the content has finished downloading, the LED will turn green and an audio chime will play. Repeat this process for each Tonie you may have. Once a Tonie is fully downloaded it will no longer need Wi-Fi to play!
Note: While the Tonie(s) may appear within the mytonies app (in the 'Collection' section), this is not confirmation that the Tonie(s) have been fully downloaded onto the Toniebox, only that the Toniebox has detected that the Tonie has been placed on top of the Toniebox.
If you continue to run into issues, send us a message including your Toniebox ID and we will get to the bottom of it!
