Short and sweet: yes!
There are a few things to keep in mind. The Toniebox requires an active Wi-Fi connection in the following three situations:
- If you are starting up the Toniebox for the first time.
- If you are putting a brand new Tonie on the Toniebox for the very first time.
- If you have loaded new content for a Creative-Tonie onto the Toniecloud and then place this on the Toniebox.
Basically: if you have already installed the Toniebox and connected it to a Wi-Fi network and the content of your Tonies has been downloaded onto the Toniebox in full, you can take it everywhere without a hitch and play audio plays without Wi-Fi, too. Whether you're on a long car journey, above the clouds or having a picnic in the great outdoors :)
You can tell whether the content of a Tonie has been downloaded in full from the status LED. If it flashes blue when you put the Tonie on the Toniebox, the download is not yet complete. You should then leave the Tonie on the Toniebox until you hear an audio signal and the LED lights up solid green.
Tip: To check that all Tonies can be played without Wi-Fi, for example, before you go on holiday, activate offline mode and place all Tonies on the Toniebox one after the other. If they all play without an error message, you’re safe.
If you want to download a new Tonie or new content for a Creative-Tonie when you're travelling, there’s an easy solution for this, too: You can simply connect the Toniebox to a mobile hotspot, which you can provide via your smartphone, for example. Find out how this works here.
